I am a geek girl in heels.  Even on days spent tinkering in the laboratory, I am balancing on top of a pair of platforms, stilettos, or vulcanized wedges.

I have a Master’s of Science in Clinical Psychology and am finishing my Ph.D. in the same discipline.  I have authored and reviewed articles in scientific journals within the fields of psychiatry, clinical psychology, and neuropsychology.

As if spending 24 years in school before I turn 30 isn’t geeky enough, I am a Star Wars, Marvel, and DC Comics fan, and can spend hours playing Tetris, crosswords, boggle, or chess.  Reason I like the holidays: Twilight Zone Marathon.  My heroes are Aeon Flux, Chernabog, Harley Quinn, Big Boo, and Edna Foa.

Misty works in L.A. where she happily dresses monsters for a living. She thinks movies and videogames are better than real life. Her favorite book is Youth in Revolt (read four times!!) She is a proud geek like her mother before her. She lives in Long Beach, Ca with her hyper cat Elko Calrissian.

There is a GEEK inside us all

The summer I was born, my sister was 17 and headed off to college, and my brother was 13, preparing to enter high school.  My parents had very busy schedules, and a lot of the “babysitting” duties fell to my brother.  He wasn’t always so pleased about it, as 13 year old boys tend to have their own ideas about how to best use their time.  So, from an extremely early age, I went wherever he wanted to go.  And when I was less than a month old, where he wanted to go was to the movie theater to see “Return of the Jedi” for the umpteenth time.  An infant in a movie theater?  Not always a good plan.  But the story goes that I was mesmerized by the movie.  My brother says that I sat propped up on his lap, and stared at the movie screen for the entire 134 minutes.  And, if you believe that, thus began my love of science-fiction. I’m Katie and…

I’ve literally killed every PC I’ve ever had from using it too much which is why I’ll never use one again.

I watched the entire series of Buffy on DVD in two weeks and almost failed Spanish because of it.

The only copy of Thriller I own is on vinyl.

I save everything I’ve ever written.

I have shelves and shelves of DVDs that are in order of my favorite to least favorite.

I’m happier being a geek than I ever was being “normal.”

I’m a .Net web developer with a side MS SQL Server. I’ve been working in the web world for about 10 years. I’m the only geek girl in an IT group of 9 geeks.

My favorite past times are being with my family, surfing the web, reading, listening to music and watching movies, pretty much in this order. I periodically, I get a guilty conscience and will take the dogs walking, so I can say I worked out. Bad, I know.

My nature is inquisitive. So, I spend a lot time on the web outside of my job, looking up my latest quest for knowledge. I’m quiet, unless I have something to say, and have been known to be a touch sarcastic but for the most part direct and to the point.

My favorite mottoes are: “Live and let live” and “Always give as good as you get”.
