Geeks With Heart

geeks with heartToday, while you’re in the lovin’ mood, why not share your big geek heart with others.

Geek Girls Network™ & Geeky Clean have
created an online fundraiser to support the Haiti Relief called Geeks With Heart.

Through Mercy Corp, Geeks With Heart has a fundraising goal of $2500 and there’s no minimum for donations. If you can spare just one special cup of coffee, an iTunes download, or a crispy chicken sandwich, donate to Haiti instead. Show Haiti why geeks have heart!

As extra incentive, and not that you need any, once Geeks With Heart reaches $2500, all who donated will have the chance to win a prize from an amazing grab bag of geek prizes!

So donate, tweet it up, put a badge on your website, and tell all your friends and family. Thanks!

There’s SO MUCH to talk about with this device, but you’re not here to read a novel so I’m going to hit on just a few points that struck me and really made me think about how this device could be used and also, how it might not be used. To learn more about the device and all its capabilities check out the official Apple site or just Google it. You know the info is out there.

As a netbook “alternative” it has a ways to go. (more…)

GGN Exclusive Preview: Star Trek Online

by @NicoleWakelin

star trek online beam me upWhen I saw the tweet from @geekgirls asking if anyone might want to try out the Star Trek Online Beta and write a review, I thought, “Hell Yes!”

It’s not that I’m a huge MMO player, although I’ve dabbled.  I played Star Wars Galaxies and almost played WoW once. But when the “cool thing” my brother-in-law had to show me about the game turned out to be a dancing bear, I completely checked out.  And I’m not really a gamer geek, although I’ve got an XBox 360 and have spent a few hours slaying dragons, shooting aliens and racing cars.  One thing I definitely am, however, is a huge Star Trek Geek.

GGN says: So are the developers. The guys and gals over at Cryptic Studios are hard core Trekkers and have gone to great lengths to maintain the integrity of the Star Trek Universe. (more…)
