Review: Zombieland

zombieland movie

If I were to describe Zombieland in three words those would be…hilarious, disgusting, and canihaszombieapocolypsenowpleeeeeze?! (Yes that was one word!)

Know what, I loved it. I’ve seen a lot of movies this summer…and in my life time, but that detail aside, Zombieland is my third favorite movie of 2009. I’m writing this a few days after watching Zombieland, and usually by now, the initial “THAT IS AWESOME” sentiment has worn off and I’m left nitpicking what was wrong with it. But the fact is…I’m not nit picking. Well, besides the classic idiotic way people in horror movies act. Seriously! Think before you act people. Just saying.

The movie starts off with some origins of the disease spread and an introduction the zombies we’ll be dealing with. And it’s a trade off. Yes, you live in a post apocalypse world where the lights still work, the gas station pumps have gas, and you can get around fairly well but it’s at a cost. That cost? THE ZOMBIES CAN RUN! AND HOLY SHIT THEY CAN CLIMB TOO! AND DAMN IT IT’S SO TERRIFYING! I am severely under prepared for a zombie take-over with zombies who can run AND climb. I’m basing my entire strategy on the idea that they can’t DO THOSE THINGS!

Moving on.

Columbus, who is played by Jesse Eisenberg was so…sweet. And sincere. And such a nerd. zombieland movie punchWhich just says so to me that being a geek is going to help me survive this inevitable zombification. Next up on the cast we have Woody Harrelson as Tallahassee. And who would have thought HE could be so damn awesome? Not me. And rounding off the girls are Emma Stone and Abigail Breslin as the sisters Wichita and Little Rock. Those two girls kicked ass the entire movie. They weren’t just movers and shakers. They had plans and they were making them happen and taking names and were smarter than the men folk. But really, who didn’t already know that?

I find myself not wanting to talk about what actually happens in the movie because I really just want to you to go see it. I don’t want to tell you about the adventure, and the suspense, and the REALLY disgusting zombies. Seriously, you want to look like the undead, find the guy who did the make up in this movie because he was AWESOME!  I don’t want to tell you about the special cameo that left me shaking with laughter as well as completely horrified. I don’t want you to know there is a little bit of a love story and where it could have been forced and un-natural as such things often are, it totally wasn’t. I completely bought it and was with it 100%. Which is something I don’t often admit to doing.

I. Want. You. To. See. This. Movie.

Oh, and revise your zombie apocalypse plans to allow for running, climbing zombies. Please? Just do it? Because I don’t want to be the only one still alive when I come out of my fall out shelter.

Seriously, between this movie and the book “World War Z”, I feel entirely prepared to face a zombie horde. And stockpile Twinkies.
Easily the funniest zombie movie I’ve seen. Comedy, action, and the best cameo of all time!!

    TWINKIES..

Anyway.. such an awesome movie. I haven’t actually gone to the movies in like months maybe a year at this point. Mostly because nothing has really interested me. I wasn’t expecting this to be a decent zombie movie.. and then it was that and more! I remember Shaun of the Dead, and this beats Shaun of the Dead, hands down.

I had a chance to see the movie a few weeks ago. It was hilarious from beginning to end. I love every minute. I like amusement parks but didn’t understand why the girls felt the need to light up the entire park like the zombies weren’t going to find them. And Bill Murray was great too.
