GGN ZOMIE WEEK(s) kicks off on October 19th 2009!
Zombies are a big part of the geek pop culture. Practically every geek I have ever met has at least a minute affection for the fictional brain-eating anomalies. Maybe we love them because zombies are the most probably horror scenario. Maybe we love them because of the gore, violence, and sheer chaos they cause. Or maybe we love them, because we secretly wish for a zombie apocalypse just so we have a reason not to show up for work on Monday.
In honor of zombie fandom, GGN will be providing blog posts, links, news, events, videos and prizes! Here’s an overview of awesomeness to expect:
All of the Words:
Starting on the 19th until the 31st, there will be a new blog post every day until the end of the month! The posts will cover zombie movies, books, podcasts, online shops, toys, and links, written by some of your favorite GGN G♥RLS. And, we’re happy to announce the addition of 2 new writers to the G♥RLS category!
And, there will be a special comic strip posted here that Smart Zombie wrote just for the event!
Live Twitter Battle:
Yup, that’s right! Mark your calendar – Today at 8pm EST, follow the hashtag #BattleZ on Twitter to watch a live battle between @geekgirls and @the_zombie!
To ensure Twitter doesn’t become overrun with infected tweeps, @geekgirls will be asking for participation throughout the battle. If you want to participate, simply @reply with the hashtag and @geekgirls will invite you to the battle field!
PS. If you can’t make the live fight, there will be a transcript of the entire battle posted on GGN later this month.
For the first time evar, GGN will offer zombie flavored prizes to 3 lucky readers! And because of some truly amazing people, GGN has collected the coolest prizes for the event!

This is so cool! I love zombies. The zombie books that I’ve read so far are Zombie Survival hand guide and World War Z. Both are amazing, I have to sadly admit that I’ve never read Pride, Prejudice & Zombies. I own all the George Romero DVDs and other Zombie movies. There is a piece of my brain for zombies out there.
I love all Romero movies, except Land of the Dead. I mean, fireworks….really??
